Rebecca Sedwick, 12, jumped to her death last month,
and two girls are now arrested on aggravated stalking charges.
Some analysts warn that criminalization of cyberbullying
won't solve the problem.
What response do you think is needed
to combat cyberbullying?

ReplyDeleteI think that making it a criminal charge will discourage kids from bullying .
ReplyDeleteI know what you're saying.

DeleteIf we punish bullies they will be less likely to bully others again.
DeleteTo combat cyber bullying i think that social networking sites should be able to ban anyone for the slightest signs of bullying. Also if there any sign of bullying the school should be able to look at the facebook or any other social networking
ReplyDeleteI agree.
Deletethats a good idea but instagram already has a feature similar feature and to be honest they dont do anything to solve it like take it down or shut off the acount
Deletei know
DeleteI think that we can combat with cyber bullying with putting people through rehabilitation i don't think that putting some one in jail is the answer.
ReplyDeleteits a good idea but rehabilitation doesn't always work.
DeleteNot if you don't believe
DeleteI think the response needed to combat cyber bullying is actually acting against the bullies. When someone is bullying someone online, someone needs to do something about it. Someone needs to crack their password and wipe their account, or delete all the bullying stuff on their account. Bullying is already illegal here, but no one ever acts on the fact that it's illegal. It still happens all the time. Someone needs to do something about it instead of just speaking about it.
ReplyDeleteWhat should "someone" do? Who is "someone"?
Deletei think that making it illegal could help stop it but it wont stop it completely
ReplyDeleteI agree with your comment.
DeleteI'm not really certain that there's much people can do about this to stop the cyber bullying no matter how hard that everyone tries to prevent it there will always be that one person there to bring it back its like a never ending reaction of harassment people will always look down and find another persons weakness and make them feel bad
ReplyDeleteI don't think that here is much people can do to stop cyber bullying. I think that the police did the right thing by arresting the girls, but when they get out they can just change there profiles and keep doing what they were doing before. What needs to happen is, the parents need to watch what their children do on the social networking sites if they have a history of bullying.
ReplyDeleteTrue, true.
DeleteI think that they should send them to jail for a very long time and they cant get bail or released early for anything so that way no one else would bully any one.
ReplyDeleteI honestly feel like there is no way you can stop any kind of bullying because its worldwide this happens on a daily basis everyday but if we can prevent this from happening this world would be so much of a better place. Maybe you can block the people if someone is harassing you block them and they cant reach you and you wont have to put up with people bullying you online. How many more deaths tell people start noticing how this effects all of us.
ReplyDeletei think the punishment for bullying should be exceed the crime such that after one person does bully someone and is sent to jail for 10 years without bail then nobody will bully anyone anymore. the problem also needs to be taken care of by the school not have the student be told oh well you need to get tougher skin because they really dont the bully needs to learn that its not acceptable in society.

DeleteI think the time should depend on how drastic the bullying was.
DeleteI think 10 years might be a little long. I think it should depend on how bad it actually was.
Deletebut it would only take afew cases until the bullies figure it out that you cant do that
DeleteThere is really nothing you can do to stop some one from doing something they are persistent to do, but we can restrict it with programs to catch any mean or bad use of language. If some one was to succeed in cyber bulling than yes it should be called a Criminal Act.
ReplyDeletethat's a terrific idea
Deletethe government needs to follow through with what we say and if its illegal then the first time there is even a sign of bullying then they should locked up but our gov doesnt always follow through
DeleteI don't think there is much you can do about cyber bullying. Yes, you can keep on constantly telling everyone how it's bad and how you shouldn't do it but that probably will not solve many problems. For years people have been saying how bullying is bad but the problem hasn't been resolved. Maybe social networks and parents could keep a closer eye on things.

Deleteyeah but what if your parents dont know how to use social networks my mom doesnt even know how to work her smart phone
DeleteI believe to combat bullying we need to arrest those who are responsible for bulling those who committed suicide. However those who are bullying but no threat of suicide is in place they should be punished but not so severely. I wish corporal punishment was still in place to punish those who bully. for hundreds of years kids have been bullied to but there was rarely suicide. We are living in a more insecure generation. Why I do not know , but we need counseling programs for those who are insecure.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good idea
DeleteI strongly agree.
DeleteI agree, but how can you really say that they were responsible for that persons death
Deleteamen
Deletetrue.
DeleteYes agreed
Deleteyou can not actually do such but like what happened in Florida but your saying that those sheriffs are not justified to arrest the girls who bullied her and said I don't care she is dead.
DeleteNo, I think they're justified but that is just one case.
Deleteyes one out of not that many and if you looked into it it is in like all of the cases
